Hey hey hey, my name is Monique Powell and I am the owner and operator of Sew Mystique Boutique. My journey to becoming a business owner was back in 2012 when I was laid off from work.
It was at that moment that I decided to take my sewing machine out of storage and started a side hustle of making and selling children's clothing, crafts, accessories, and other personalized gifts for family and friends. While it began as just a way to earn extra money I soon realized it was bigger than that... I now wanted to create an actual business where I could leave a legacy for my children.
My love for sewing started when I took it as an elective during my junior and senior years of high school, it has been an avenue where I can express my creativity and use it as a part of my self-care and just to have fun!!
Aside from being a business owner, I am a wife and a mother of two . I also have a full-time job as a Parent Advocate and I co-facilitate a girl empowerment craft group. I reside in New Jersey.
